چکیده

This paper is a case study discussing the evolution of the Performing Arts in our contemporary societies. Globalised societies and economies influence human behaviours creating an enormous impact on the Arts. Considering Art as a communication apparatus that connects people, we examine the way in which performances progress and adjust to current social demands. Even though the globalisation process integrates societies not only in the economical terms, but also in the cultural ones, we can notice that human alienation becomes the reality of our times. New technologies have been introduced in order to create innovative ways of enabling communication between the Art and its artists, as well as between the Art and its audience. On the other hand, it appears that current economies invest more effort in developing more and more advanced technologies than in human resources, replacing the human labour with machines. This creates new conditions for social relations, causing changes not only in the artistic perspectives, but also for the ways how audiences entertain themselves. We examine the evolution of modern societies from the artists’ point of view. The examples of Cyborg performances with halfmachines and half-humans, virtual bodies and virtual societies, avatars and Second Life communication and aggressive behaviours, are our tools for analyzing the artistic evolution of our global, lonely societies.
